A Story of Change: Ajay’s Journey from Hardship to Hope

Ajay* comes from an extremely underprivileged family and is raised by his grandmother. The family depends on daily-wage labour, and meeting even basic needs like regular meals and schooling has always been a struggle. For a child in such circumstances, early education often remains out of reach.

Identifying the Need During her regular community visits, Sahara Jan Kalyan Samiti volunteer Smt. Manjulata Prajapati met Ajay and noticed his curiosity and eagerness to learn. With the family’s consent, she enrolled him in the local Anganwadi centre under the Samiti’s Free Nutrition & Pre-Education Programme, where children receive daily nutritious food along with early learning support.

The Transformation With regular nutrition and a supportive learning environment, Ajay has made remarkable progress:

He now recognises letters and numbers. He is learning to read and write. He has grown noticeably more confident and engaged.
